Our People
Aaron Johnson
Mr. Johnson brings over twenty-five years of experience to the MEP engineering design and construction industry within the Washington, DC and Philadelphia, PA markets. Aaron began his career with the firm Ai Architecture (now Perkins+Will), later advancing to Ebert & Baumann Consulting Engineers. Aaron has extensive project design and management experience with base building projects and tenant fit-outs. Mr. Johnson seeks to engage clients and design team members in collaborative approaches to identify the appropriate and most sustainable MEP solutions. Mr. Johnson graduated from Howard University with a degree in mechanical engineering and co-founded J+M Engineering in 2013.
Joe Matje
Mr. Matje’s design and construction expertise spans over twenty-five years. With both general contractor and A/E firm experience, he is equally adept at design engineer and/or project manager roles on projects ranging from higher education buildings and high-rise office towers, to government facilities and multi-family housing. Joe is a proponent of sustainable design, exhibiting this commitment by leading detailed energy consumption studies and lecturing on the integration of green engineering design with architecture. Joe also authored Energy Design in the Year 2031. Mr. Matje graduated from Villanova University with a degree in mechanical engineering and later served as the lead mechanical engineer at Bruce E. Brooks and Associates. He joined the firm J+M Engineering full time in 2018.
Richard Hwang
Mr. Hwang has been involved in engineering and construction since 2005. In 2008 he settled in Philadelphia and entered the turnkey design build sector, gaining valuable experience bringing designs from paper, to the field with his own hands. Taking that experience into MEP consulting in 2012, he designed and managed projects ranging from sustainable LEED buildings, to historic renovations. He was senior mechanical engineer at Bruce E. Brooks & Associates. Mr. Hwang graduated from Loyola Chicago in physics, and Washington University in St. Louis in mechanical engineering. He joined J+M Engineering in 2019.
Christopher Flouris
Mr. Flouris has been providing engineering design and consulting services since 2006 and brings extensive experience in the areas of electrical power distribution, control engineering, manufacturing, and systems commissioning. Chris has provided services across various market sectors including commercial, industrial, pharmaceutical, healthcare, residential, historic, cultural and civic, higher education, and private schools. His involvement in the OEM world developing semiconductor manufacturing equipment for large industrial and R&D clients has afforded him a unique hands-on systems analysis and problem-solving ability that he can leverage across multiple industries and disciplines. Chris strives to drive the engineering design to achieve client goals of safety, functionality, sustainability, cost, and aesthetics. Mr. Flouris graduated from Lehigh University with a degree in electrical engineering and joined J+M Engineering in 2020.
