Princeton University - PRINCO Renovations

ARCHITECT: Studio Modh
Located at 22 Chambers Street outside of Princeton University, the PRINCO office renovation project focused on finding optimal solutions to programmatic problems and uncovering new opportunities for both the third and fourth floor layouts. The renovation scope of work included offices, conference rooms, café/pantry spaces, and a new board room. These spaces house the forty-four current staff that will grow to fifty-two in the coming years. The mechanical design for the renovation utilized a new HVAC variable refrigerant flow system, energy recovery ventilators, and all new lighting and lighting controls throughout.
Princeton University - Office Fit-Out

The commercial office fit-out project at 619 Alexander provided a new space for the Office of the Dean for Research and Princeton University. The project involved integrating new MEP systems into the base building systems, while also adhering closely to University standards. An energy recovery ventilator was installed for the space, providing improved indoor air quality. Variable speed water source heat pumps were also installed, providing increased energy savings and occupant comfort compared to single stage equipment. All LED lighting with modern controls provide energy savings (vacancy and daylight sensors). The project also required the entire building’s fire alarm system to be replaced with a modern addressable system, and the building mains running through the tenant space were replaced with all metal piping in place of the former PVC hydronic piping original to the building.
Hanson Fine Building & Preservation

Hanson Fine Building and Preservation is a general contracting firm specializing in renovations, custom additions, sustainable design, and historic preservation for older homes and historic structures in the Philadelphia region. We have worked with owners Chris and John Hanson on many projects around Philadelphia, and when it came time to expand their office and shop space by renovating an old auto repair shop and show space building in Mount Airy, they chose our firm to provide electrical, mechanical, plumbing, life safety, and site lighting design for their new office project. The building was divided into three tenant commercial spaces, with Hanson Fine Building taking the larger main area.
The Equity Project

The Equity Project is a nonprofit organization working with the community in the Kensington neighborhood of Philadelphia. The Equity Project mission is to advance racial equality through youth empowerment and access to opportunity. The nonprofit uses mentors and the new office space to help achieve their goals, including an after-school program for local youth that provides both space and assistance with homework and activities. We worked with Continuum Architecture and Design, and building owner Shift Capital, on this office renovation fit out project, which included all new energy efficient HVAC systems, new lighting with lighting control system, and new plumbing to support a kitchenette and bathroom spaces.
Good Food Markets - Addison Plaza

J+M Engineering was pleased to provide MEP (mechanical (HVAC), electrical, and plumbing) engineering design services for the Good Food Markets, Addison Plaza tenant fit-out project of approximately 5,000 SF of existing commercial retail center space located in Prince George’s County, Maryland. Good Food Markets is a mission driven grocery retailer dedicated to serving food desert communities through partnerships with local growers, producers, and distributors. GFM focuses on providing the surrounding DMV community with fresh quality produce, essential grocery items, and healthy to go meals. The new grocery retail space will be conditioned by two new commercial high efficiency packaged roof top units. The project occupied two addresses within the retail center which required the existing electrical utility supply to be combined into a single service.
Larsen & Landis Company Headquarters

Our firm provided the MEP engineering design and permit drawings for the complete conversion of a 140-year-old, two-story, former Baptist Church building in the Fishtown neighborhood of Philadelphia, PA, into the new headquarters for this highly regarded structural engineering firm.
The building was acquired by Larsen & Landis through a national advocacy program group for congregations in need, and for the preservation of historic/religious structures called Strategic Investment in Sacred Places – Partners for Sacred Places. Our client approached this organization and was able to procure and rehabilitate the building, thus saving the structure’s original form through creative and adaptive reuse.
Nunu Restaurant

Our office was pleased to provide the MEP engineering permit design for a Japanese styled restaurant located in the Fishtown neighborhood of Philadelphia. The approximately 1400 SF restaurant occupies the first floor and basement of a new construction mixed-use building which our offices also provided the MEP engineering design services for. The first floor consists of the dining and bar areas, and the basement consists of the commercial kitchen, walk in box, dishwashing area, and support spaces.
Showtime Lounge Bar

Showtime Lounge, located in NW Washington, DC, is a low-key, low-priced neighborhood hangout for fans of a less-than ostentatious atmosphere and a meticulously curated jukebox filled with rare soul, jazz, funk and R&B. Named as one of the “18 Best Bars in America” by Esquire magazine in 2016, J+M Engineering worked closely with the owners to provide the MEP engineering design and permit drawings for this unique renovation project.
Barcade Restaurant And Arcade

Barcade is a combination bar and arcade chain with several east coast locations that spotlight classic video games and American craft beer. Our firm provided the MEP engineering design and permit drawings for the renovation of the Philadelphia location which included providing commercial heating and cooling systems and a commercial kitchen design.

Mac Mart, Delaware Restaurant

Our office was pleased to provide the MEP engineering permit design for the second of Mac-Mart’s restaurant establishments located near the campus of the University of Delaware. The project consisted of a restaurant tenant fit out of an approximately 2400 SF existing retail space which required substantial reconfiguration of the existing commercial heating and cooling systems, commercial kitchen equipment and plumbing systems.
